We strive to:

  • Promote conservation of our natural resources through education.
  • To develop and review environmental and natural resource legislation.
  • To secure adequate federal or state funding through legislation for natural resource conservation programs.

We have the ability to influence conservation policies that affect our area.

What is a Conservation District?

A conservation district is a local subdivision of state government which seeks, utilizes, and coordinates assistance from all available appropriate sources, private and public; local, state, and federal.

Across the United States, the nations's nearly 3,000 districts are working to conserve and develop land, water, forests, wildlife, and related resources for the benefit of all. Over 17,000 men and women serve on the governing bodies of districts.

Organized in all 50 states (plus Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands), districts have formed state-wide associations to carry on educational and research activities that will further the use of natural resources. Working in cooperation with these associations are state soil and water conservation committees, boards, departments, and councils - responsible under the laws of their states for encouraging the organization of districts, providing information about their work, assisting them in their efforts, and coordinating their activities.

Conservation - Development - Self Governement. These are the themes of the district movement, symbolizing the dedication of district officials to purposeful, constructive action in the fireld of conservation and resource development - fundamental to American growth and prosperity.

All conservation district programs and services are offered on a non-discrimnatory basis without regard to race, color, national orgin, religion, sex, age, marital status, or handicap.
